ownCloud
The original self-hosted file-sync project, started in 2010 by Frank Karlitschek. In 2016 Karlitschek and most of the core team walked out over disagreements with the company side and started Nextcloud — ownCloud the company still exists, but the gravity of the community moved with the fork.
